Electric Ireland and Bobby Kerr fuel Students with a Cup of Inspiration

cup-of-inspiration.jpg

Yesterday, 30th June 2016, UCD Smurfit Business School and Electric Ireland hosted the annual summer Marketing Development Programme Business Breakfast in the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin.

The event was organised by students from the UCD Marketing Development Programme. The special guest speaker was entrepreneur and renowned business man, Bobby Kerr who delivered a key note address on
“Leadership and Innovation in a Competitive Marketplace”.

Drawing from his experience with a number of successful Irish start-ups, Bobby spoke of the importance of remaining creative and innovative when operating in a competitive market.

Our customers drive our business. It is important to have a value proposition and value doesn’t have to mean cheap. Value means offering customers something so good that keeps them coming through the door.

He attributes his success to a number of key factors including setting realistic goals and targets, having a real brand strategy and the importance of integrity.

The UCD MDP takes a leading role in facilitating the development of professional marketeers by providing students with the opportunity to work as advisors on commercial projects and gain practical experience.

Thank You!

To All My Wonderful Colleagues,

As you may know, I retired from ESB/Electric Ireland last month.

Working for this company has contributed greatly to both my personal and professional development. After 40 happy and productive years, I leave with many memories to cherish for the rest of my life.

I want to express my sincere gratitude for the support you have offered me over the years. We have shared wonderful work relationships as well as friendships. All of your support has made working with each and everyone of you an enjoyable and rewarding experience, and a part of my life that I will no doubt miss. (Although, for now I can tell you, that spending a lot my time on the golf course IS all it’s cracked up to be!)

I also want to send a huge thank you for the wonderful retirement party. Thank you to each and every one who attended, I really appreciated all of the kind words and well wishes, presents and fantastic collection and I will never forget the thoughtful and touching presentations.

As I look forward to a new life after my retirement, I will certainly miss the enjoyable time I have spent with you all.

On behalf of my family a sincere thank you and I wish you all the best in your future with the best company in Ireland, and please do try to stay in touch

Kind regards,

Tony O’Connor

EURO2016 Week 2 Update (to end of group stage)

After a slow start to the competition the group stages have ended with a bang! An incredible performance by the boys in green has secured our place in the last 16 of the competition for the first time ever.

As we look ahead to the knock out stages our own competition has seen significant change at the top. Padraig Ryan has taken the lead on 65 points and a 61% success rate. Padraig is followed closely by Kevin McDermott on 63 points. Behind Kevin in joint 3 is the chasing pack made up of Tony Connell, Jonny Lennon, John O’Donoghue, Brid Clerkin and John Duane who are all on 62 points. At the other end of the table, Niall O’Hanlon has hauled himself out of the relegation places, but Dave Walsh is still in trouble with both his forecasts! The full table can be viewed in the excel file.

With up to 20 points up for grabs in the final matches it’s all to play for. Remember in the event of a tie it’ll go down to total number of goals scored in the tournament. Based on the average number of goals per game (1.9) we’re heading for 98 goals.

Best of luck to everyone and COYBIG!!!
