Fundraising

Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2017 / Kevin Young
Christmas Shoebox Appeal is an opportunity for children and families to send gifts to children who would otherwise never receive anything at Christmas. By taking an average size shoe box or half a photocopier paper box, covering it with Christmas wrapping paper and filling it with paper, pencils, toothbrush, toothpaste, toys and sweets, children in Ireland can show that they are thinking of those less fortunate than themselves. A minimum donation of €4 will cover the cost of transport, processing and distribution.
If you would like to donate a shoebox this year or volunteer to coordinate boxes in your area please contact Kevin Young at 27726 if you’d like to be involved.
Shoeboxes can be dropped to local collection points – AXA, FirstStop Tyres or Toymaster outlets by Friday 10th November.
Shoe box collection in the Dublin area will be coordinated by Kevin and will be collected from ESB Matthews Building, East James Place, Dublin 2, on Friday 17th November.
Christmas Shoebox Appeal is run by TEAM HOPE which is an independent Irish, interdenominational Christian relief and development charity, (Irish charity number CHY 14524). TEAM HOPE is working in relief and development projects in over twenty countries, mainly in Africa, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
Working through a long established group of international partnerships, your shoebox gifts will be given into the hands of a needy child, irrespective of his or her race, religion, ethnicity, or background – who all equally deserve a shoebox gift. The only criteria for receiving a shoebox is the need of the child.
This year TEAM HOPE are planning that shoeboxes from Ireland will go to street children, orphans, children in hospital, poor families, victims of war or other needy situations in the following countries:
Eastern Europe and former Soviet Union: Belarus, Romania, Transnistria, Kosova, Moldova, Ukraine, Albania Africa: Burundi, Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Swaziland, Rwanda
