Rearranged retirement event for Kieran Cogan. / Mark Madigan
After 37 years of loyal and dedicated service, Kieran Cogan retired in November 2017. Due to a family bereavement Kieran’s retirement event was postponed before Christmas but has been rearranged for the 26th January next.
From his very first role in Transmission Department, and the many and varied roles since, Kieran has brought a professionalism and a tremendous capacity for acquiring knowledge and producing technical information . He has contributed hugely to ensuring that the highest standards of safety, workmanship and quality were applied on the very many projects and assignments that he has been responsible for. This has been particularly evident since Kieran started in the Technical Development area back in 2001 where he has tirelessly worked to improve the safety standards , procedures and work methods for staff and contractors. He is recognised widely for his expertise both internally and with external stakeholders.
To celebrate his distinguished career, Kieran would like to invite all his many colleagues (past and present) to join him on the 26th January in the Briar Rose Bar & Bistro, Douglas Road Cork for an evening of reminiscing and laughter. Those wishing to make a contribution please contact:

Death of Patrick (Pat) McCabe, ex Ringsend Station / Niall O Connor
McCabe, Patrick (Pat), 19th January, 2018. (late of South Circular Road and Retired ESB) Peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at St. Glady’s Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Beloved brother of Rita, Edwina, Moria and Linda. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and also by his brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces, extended family, friends and neighbours. May he rest in peace.
Reposing at Fanagan’s Funeral Home, Lower Kimmage Road on Monday prior to his removal to St. Kevin’s Church, Harrington Street, arriving at 6pm. Funeral on Tuesday morning after 10 o’clock Mass to Mount Jerome Cemetery.

Death of Philip Walsh, father-in-law of John Mulvaney / Paul Dempsey The death has occurred of Philip WALSH, Hogan Avenue, Kileely, Limerick

Philip, passed away (peacefully) at St. Camillus’ Hospital. Beloved husband of the late Mary. Adored father of Tom, Majella & Denise. Deeply regretted by his family, grandchildren Kim, Calvin, Sèan, Aoife, Jack, Eoin, Alex, Rìan & Lucy, brothers Kevin & John, sister Marie, sons-in-law John & James, daughter-in-law Liz, all other relatives, friends & neighbours. May He Rest In Peace
Reposing at Cross’ Funeral Home, Gerald Griffin Street, Monday (Jan.22nd) from 5pm followed by removal at 6.30pm to St. Munchin’s Church, Clancy Strand. Requiem Mass Tuesday (Jan.23rd) at 11am with funeral afterwards to Mt.St. Lawrence (old) Cemetery.

Death of Pierce Murphy,brother of Emer Murphy, ESB Networks, Clanwilliam. / Arthur Byrne
The death has taken place of Pierce Murphy, late of Pembroke, Wales and formerly of Leopardstown, Co. Dublin.
Deeply regretted by his familly, including his sister Emer Murphy( ESB Networks, Clanwilliam). May he rest in peace.
Our sympathies are with Emer and the Murphy family at this sad time. Funeral took place in Wales.
A memorial service will be arranged in Ireland, later this Spring to celebrate Pierce’s life.
