Fundraising
Cyril Loughlin – Charity Fundraiser update / Cyril
Hi again! I just wanted to say a massive and humble ‘Thank You’ for your exceptional generosity and support for my 5-day charity cycle last week. It WILL make a real difference as you can see from the research finding that was announced in Chicago as we climbed Caha Pass on Sunday last. Between 500 and 600 Irish women will now be spared the trauma of chemotherapy, annually, as a result of the study’s outcome – see here …. how great is that?
The trip from Malin Head to Mizen Head, with 72 colleagues from my club, went very well. I was pleased to be in a sub team throughout with Paul Gallagher and his partner, Wendy. Paul lost his wife in 2007 as you can see from today’s Irish Independent (link) … inspirational! Some photos from the event are on view Photos.
My fundraiser page will be open for another wee while if anyone wants to support – click Please Donate. That’s it from me …. Míle Buíochas arís!
P.S. with ref to my earlier post ….. it’s not quite all downhill but is relatively flat until Kerry:-)

Retirement of Arthur Schmid on 6th July 2018 / Mick Waters
After a staggering 38 years service in ESB the effervescent Arthur Schmid has decided to call it a day.
Arthur joined ESB in 1980 and swiftly made his presence felt in facilities management in Bishops Quay. The denizens of Bishops quay and Rosbrien will remember him as the purveyor of post and the Jim’ll fix it for all those tasks that didn’t fall under anyone’s remit but nevertheless got done on Arthurs watch. His infectious good humour , friendly demeanour and his dogged determination to complete every task made him a very popular figure with his friends and colleagues throughout his career.
Arthur moved to Supply chain in 2010 and again his commitment and work ethic made him a vital cog in the materials area in Limerick Stores and other depots within the division. He would leave no stone unturned to get the lads the material they needed for the job. He will be sorely missed by his many friends in ESB.
Although Arthur has “left the building” he will make a cameo appearance in the canteen in Rosbrien on Friday 6th July for a cuppa and slice of cake and all are welcome.
Later on in the afternoon of the 6th July at 5pm a function to mark Arthurs Retirement will be held in Fennessys Bar Limerick. All are cordially invited to attend.
We wish Arthur and Mary the very best in Retirement which we all hope will be long and healthy. Mick Waters MSS Mid West Div
