Project Fitzwilliam will address ESB’s headquarters accommodation needs for the future. Our existing office, although it has serviced us well over the years, is old and inefficient; some parts of it have BER of F.
As well as providing an improved working environment for staff, with space for future expansion, the new building will be highly energy efficient, making it better for the environment, and costing less to operate. It will also bring the surrounding community into the building complex, with a new walkway opening up the building to the public. This will allow people to walk from Fitzwilliam Street, past the planted courtyards and into a bustling plaza area, where cafes and restaurants will reinvigorate James Street East.
From a conservation and heritage perspective, Fitzwilliam Street is considered to be one of the most important Georgian streets in Europe and as a result, the project is of interest, not only to staff but also to the general public.
