Thousands walk from Darkness into Light 2019 to experience the Power of Hope /
Pieta and Electric Ireland thank participants from around the world and ask them to bring hope beyond the finish line
For those who walked, donated and shared a post to spread the Power of Hope, on behalf of Electric Ireland and Pieta we would like to extend our sincere gratitude for being a part of this year’s walk from Darkness Into Light. Close to 200,000 participants joined at 4.15 on May 11th to Experience the Power of Hope in 202 venues across 5 continents.
All images captured at the walks by staff will be shared on Yammer, we received a so many great pictures from staff and their families on their journey from Darkness Into Light. (Topic: Darkness Into Light 2019)

Retirement of John Casey, HV Stations Project Leader, Limerick / Melissa Butler, Michael McElligot, Alan Rossiter ***Reminder***
After nearly 40 years of dedicated service, John has decided to retire from ESB and pursue his many family, sporting, and agricultural interests.
Throughout his long and distinguished career in ESB, John has worked in many roles and locations across ESB.
Johns first assignments were as an engineer on the construction of the Dunstown – Moneypoint & Moneypoint – Woodland 400 kV lines, where he developed his passion for engineering excellence.
Since his early days negotiating with fellow landowners, John has gone on to fulfil various other high profile roles across ESB and ESB International including; System Investigation & Maintenance – ESBI

NRP Design Manager
HV Stations Project Leader

In recent years, John has combined his extensive technical knowledge of the ESB system with his hands-on project management approach – resulting in the successful delivery of many high-profile capital projects.
John is celebrating his retirement, along with family, friends and work colleagues, at Treacys Oakwood Hotel, Shannon on Friday 17th of May at 8PM. All are welcome to celebrate this historic occasion.

Retirement of Pat Tobin, HV Stations Supervisor Enniscorthy / Mike Tobin, Dave McCarthy
After close to 50 years of dedicated service, Pat has decided to retire from ESB and move on to newer pastures.
Over the years, Pat has carried out a number of critical roles, bringing his vast knowledge and experience to each with great enthusiasm and vigour.
Even in his final year, Pat was willing to dedicate himself to the cause of developing the new Company Standard and associated procedures for working in HV substations.
Pat is hoping to celebrate his retirement, along with family, friends and work colleagues alike, at Rapparees/Starlights GAA Club, Enniscorthy on Friday 17 May. All are welcome to celebrate this momentous occasion.
