Farewell & Thanks

Dave McCall leaves ESB on 1st April /
After nearly 40 years of service in ESB, our friend and colleague Dave McCall’s last day in the office is tomorrow, April 1st.
Dave joined the ESB in 1981, starting off with Dublin Central and was based in a number of locations such as Bedford Row, Fleet Street and South Lotts where he gained valuable technical experience and knowledge of the network. From here Dave joined ITS and worked on the team that looked after the programming/maintenance of IBM equipment that serviced the ESB retail stores. When ITS took over Telecoms, Dave moved to National Management Centre (NMC), a precursor to the Telecom Operation Centre (TOC). Dave was instrumental in creating the Microsoft Access Database which was used to record the extensive suite of Telecoms assets including pilot cables, fibre and all PABX extensions.
After this Dave moved to Telecom Operations East and went on to be based in North Branch, Finglas. Dave quickly became an integral part of TOE and his technical knowledge and wide ranging experience will be sorely missed. Dave was a consistent team player and someone who could be relied upon.
Dave has been a colleague and friend to many of us across the organisation and his enthusiasm and joie de vivre endeared him to everyone he met.
Dave, who has an appreciation for the finer things in life, intends to enjoy his retirement cooking, making jewellery/knives, travelling and researching his Scottish heritage (this may or may not include wearing the McCall clan kilt on nights out!) We wish Dave and his family, good health in his retirement
Due the current circumstances, Dave has had to postpone his retirement celebrations but we look forward to celebrating with Dave at a later date.
