Farewell & Thanks

A note from Colm Smith on his retirement (delayed post) / Garry Cosgrove
Dear friends and colleagues, After 42 memorable years I will retire from ESB this Friday October 1st. Before I go I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you that I worked with, dealt with or met over the years for the assistance, kindness and courtesy you have shown to me. ESB has been a really great place to work and it is the people who work here that make it so. There are many reasons why ESB has been a really good employer to me and I would particularly like to acknowledge the company’s supportive approach to the development of its staff which I availed of particularly in my earlier years. In modern times some careers can see people seeking work in different countries and different continents. I managed to stay closer to home starting and finishing in Clanwilliam House (half a mile from where grew up) with stints in the Personnel Building on Mount Street and Head Office, all of which are within a stone’s throw of each other. I am a little disappointed that I cannot have the customary ‘do’ on my departure night and I hope to hold one when the restrictions allow. It’s a small inconvenience but nothing compared to the hardship and suffering Covid has caused for so many. I wish you and your families health and happiness for the future. Best regards, Colm

Rioghnach Buckley retires on 8th Oct / Ger Brennan
After over 40 years of dedicated service our colleague, Rioghnach Buckley is retiring on Friday the 8th of October.
The contribution that Rioghnach has made to the organisation and the number of friends she has made over her career is testament to her hard work and warm, caring personality. Also, the contribution that she has made to many and varied voluntary groups ranging from Savvi Credit Union, member of the social and medical group to the chief organiser of our Lotto group, savings group and social outings.
As the last of the Covid-19 restrictions are still in place, a proper retirement event will take place later in the year.
In the meantime, on behalf of all current and former colleagues and friends in ESB, we all wish Rioghnach good health and happiness to enjoy her retirement with her friends and family. We hope you get to fully enjoy every minute of your retirement and the many adventurers and holidays that you have planned.

RIP
