Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) have been recognised since electricity was discovered and occur both naturally and from man-made sources. The most common source of man-made EMF that we encounter is electricity.
ESB’s position on EMF and health is based on the conclusions and recommendations of national and international health & scientific agencies, as well as current legislation in this area.
You can find more information about our commitments and actions in continuing to protect the health of the public and employees through the A-Z Electromagnetic Fields page and the ESB Health & Wellbeing site. Group Health, Safety & Wellbeing

People Leaving

Retirement of Charlie Kennedy, HV Delivery & Contracting, ESB Networks / Claire Conaty
After over 50 years in ESB, Charlie Kennedy has decided the time has come to retire and give more time to his family and many interests in the world outside.
In 1967, Charlie started his career in ESB as an apprentice electrician in the Dublin City District (Fleet St) and since then has worked in many parts of the organisation. He worked in Saudi Arabia on a 69kV cable location project, the Materials Department in Stephens Green, the Distribution Department in Osprey House and in more recent years, HV Delivery & Contracting in Clanwilliam House.
Charlie will be hugely missed by everyone who knows him in ESB. His remarkable knowledge, positive helpful approach and ability to consistently deliver his work to such an exceptional standard for over 50 years is a testament to his dedication to ESB. In more recent years through his unparalleled knowledge of programme management systems, he was able to develop the most vital delivery report in ESBN which was appropriately named the ‘Charlie Kennedy Report’. There is no doubt that this will continue to inform the delivery teams for many years to come.
I’d like to thank Charlie for his dedicated service over the 50 years and wish him and his family, every happiness and wellness in his retirement. His last working day is the 7th February but he will return for one final day on 30th April.
For anyone who wishes to be associated with a collection for Charlie please contact: • Emma Hogan, Leopardstown Road
• Sarah Gallagher, Clanwilliam House
