Farewell & Thanks

Ciaran Hand is retiring on 9th June /
After 43 years memorable years with ESB, Ciaran Hand is leaving us on 9th June. Ciaran’s journey with ESB started in Chapel Street in Dundalk in 1979 – where he worked as a Clerical Officer initially in Materials and then moved to the Consumers Unit. As Dundalk evolved from being a District office to a Regional office so too did Ciaran’s career where he went on from being a team lead in Customer Accounting Northern Region to establishing the unitised Commercial & Industrial Billing team for all Customer Supply. In January 2007 his move to Dublin started as he took up the role of MIS & Controls manager for Customer Supply which involved splitting his working week between Dundalk and Dublin. In 2008 he moved permanently to Dublin (Clanwilliam House) to take up the role of Business Process Manager in BP&IT and then in 2010 joined the CREST Market opening project as the Customer Operations lead. Following the establishment of Electric Ireland, Ciaran has held a number of management positions across the IT and Digital area. Most recently (last 6 years) Ciaran was instrumental in ESB’s entry into the GB residential market where he led the development and roll out of the IT systems and processes for ESB Energy.
Ciaran’s unique Business and IT knowledge and experience combined with his technical ability across business Process design & Re-engineering, Customer Journeys, Data & Analytics, GDPR, IT and Project management was a huge asset to ESB and the effects of this can be seen and remain in place across areas he worked in. However its Ciaran’s people skills and ability to share his experiences & knowledge and coach team members to be creative, innovative and add value that is his greatest strength and stand out contribution to ESB. Ciaran will be missed but he is leaving in the knowledge that everything he touched upon has been passed on to others and will continue to add value. We wish Ciaran and his family a long and happy retirement, spending more time with his grandkids, keeping fit & going to the gym, playing more golf, supporting his favourite football teams, travelling and taking it a bit easier.
We would like to invite all Ciaran’s friends and colleagues from over the years in ESB to join him for an informal few drinks and send off on 9th June from 5.30pm in Doheny & Nessbit’s, Baggott Street (upstairs Bar)

RIP
