Farewell & Thanks

Ray O’Mullane is retiring next week / Dave Carey
Ray O’Mullane will be retiring from ESB and starting the next phase of his life (on the International Tennis Circuit) from early June. His last working day in the office will be Tuesday next 16th march. Ray started his career in Patrick St Cork working on the “counter” providing customer service for Customer Supply and Networks. Nine years later a vacancy arose for a clerical officer covering customer service and sales in the Mallow area office and Ray jumped at this. Having got a taste for commission and sales Ray took up a permanent position as a salesperson in ESB Retail Academy Street Cork where he remained for fourteen years until ESB’s exit from the electrical retail business. Not wanting to stray too far from customers, the next stint of Ray’s career was spent in the National Customer Care Centre in Wilton supporting staff and providing customer service for ESBN customers. During this period Ray was also involved in project work on EBilling for Customer supply and in the launch of Electric Ireland’s online store. For the past three years he has worked on the Smart Metering Project in a customer facing role. He is widely known and respected throughout the organisation through his many roles.
For many years Ray has also been involved in the organising of Christmas staff functions in Wilton and fundraising for local charities including Edel House. Ray will be missed by those who have worked with him for his professionalism and good humour, friendly ear and of course his Guitar!!!
We hope to celebrate Ray’s retirement with an “in-person” event as soon as COVID-19 current restrictions allow but will also be organising a “Zoom” meeting in late May. We wish Ray, Josette and their Family all the best for the future.
