Farewell & Thanks

After a successful career which has spanned right across ESB, Frank Bredin has taken the decision to retire. His contribution to the success of all the businesses he worked in has been significant and he will be greatly missed by the colleagues and friends who had the pleasure to work alongside him over the years and to benefit from his knowledge and experience.

Frank joined ESB in September 1981, having previously worked as an electrical engineer in Lirelle (later Unifi) in Letterkenny after graduating from Trinity in 1979. He started in what was known as System Operation Dept (System Op), which later became National Grid and later Eirgrid, where among other activities he worked relief shifts in the Load Dispatch Office (LDO) which became the NCC.

He moved to Distribution Dept in 1985 into Urban (Network) Planning and later into HV (38kV at that time) Substations in both the maintenance and design functions, which more later became HVSP (HV Substation Performance) which included a Protection team which he joined and this later became a separate System Protection Section in 2010, now including the Earthing function (SP&E).

Frank enjoyed his different roles and the experiences he gained and felt lucky to have had that privilege to make so many friends along the way and would like to thank all his colleagues past and present for their support throughout the years and to wish them all the best of luck for the future.

On behalf of everyone, we would like to wish Frank a very happy and healthy retirement and to thank him for his huge dedication and service to ESB.
