Farewell & Thanks

Retirement of Bernie Murray / Stephen O’Reilly
Our colleague and friend Bernie Murray will be retiring on the 17th of June 2022 after more than 40 years dedicated service with ESB. Bernie started her career in August 1981, spending her first 7 years in Dublin North West District office, before moving to the Tallaght Area office in 1988. Bernie then moved on to Dispatch in Leopardstown Road, where she has made a significant contribution over the last 20 years as part of the National Distribution Control Centre team (formerly Northern DCC). On behalf of everyone, I would like to wish Bernie a long and happy retirement and thank her for her commitment and service to ESB over the last 40 years. We will miss her in NDCC! Bernie would like to extend an invitation to all her friends and colleagues from ESB to join her in celebrating her retirement from 7.30 pm in The Dropping Well pub in Milltown on Friday June 17th.

Pat Lelas is retiring /
After nearly 44 years of dedicated service, our colleague and friend, Pat Lelas will be retiring on Friday 27th May. Pat started his career in 1978 as an apprentice electrician in what was the former Fleet Street office, with stints in many departments during the apprenticeship, he ultimately settled in Underground Construction under then Supervisor Johnny Browne and it was in the construction section that he would go on to spend most of his career in ESB. Pat was later appointed as a Design EO in Leopardstown where he spent some years building his knowledge base. This led to an exciting career change, and in 2007 at a time of huge change in Dublin City centre with the construction of LUAS cross city looming, he was appointed as Construction Supervisor. Pat’s excellent knowledge of the underground network and his MV/LV design experience meant he was the perfect choice to lead this major infrastructure project for Dublin Central and ESBN alike. As everybody knows, Pat is ever willing to share his huge knowledge of construction and his professionalism and customer service is recognised throughout the construction industry in Dublin and government agencies such as TII, DCC and the Port Authority to name a few. Pat will leave a long lasting and very positive impact on South Lotts Road and will be greatly missed, especially by those of us that have had the privilege of working closely with him over the years. Pat’s last day at work is the 27th May and he would like to invite his many friends from ESB to a get together upstairs in ‘The Chop House’, 2 Shelbourne Road, in Dublin on Friday 27th May from 5pm on. I would like to wish Pat and Jackie a long and happy retirement and thank him for his commitment and service to ESB. I do hope that he can now look forward to spending more quality time with his grandchildren whom he speaks so fondly of, pursuing his many interests and hobbies, and catching up with all his jobs in Dublin and Wexford.

RIP
