Farewell & Thanks

Retirement of Sean DeCleir / Bryan Crowley
Sean DeCleir has decided to call it a day on a long and varied career within ESB and hand in his station keys… Sean began his career with ESB way back in 1977 when he started as a mechanical fitter in Ferbane Power station. In 1982, a stint in Head Office followed where he continued his training as a draughtsman.
1985 marked a key milestone in Sean’s career when he transferred to Moneypoint as a Technical Officer. While at Moneypoint, Sean made his mark, taking a lead role in the initial design and installation of the Computerised maintenance management system (CMMS). This expertise took him to Malaysia where he ensured similiar rollouts in several Malaysian Power stations. Anybody who knows Sean will appreciate his wider sporting interests outside of work. It’s no surprise then, that while working in Moneypoint Seán lived in Kilkee and took up a keen interest in Squash and Golf and continued his interest in hurling by bringing success to Kilkee Bealaha hurling club in west Clare (so he claims…) His last match ended with a sending off against Kilrush that he still calls a miscarriage of justice…. In 2001 he left Moneypoint and following a brief stint in Energy Trading and Regulation, Seán moved to ESB Networks in 2004 under the tutelage of Joe Marsa’s Network Planning section and subsequently the HV Stations area. Sean has made a significant mark in that intervening time across HV Station maintenance planning, asset replacement programmes and in particular shaping the business approach to managing Station Security & Public Safety risks, not to mention his support and development of other members of the team. No doubt, Sean’s wide range of outside interests will continue to keep him occupied during his retirement including Offaly County GAA, his local club, Kinnitty, his Golf Handicap and of course his much in-demand skills as a photographer. He might even get a chance to finish that book of his father’s photographs! Sean’s last working day will be Thursday 23rd June 2022. He plans to mark his retirement in due course and will be in touch. We wish Sean the very best for a long, healthy and happy retirement with his wife Margaret and their children, Seona, Seamus and Gearoid.

RIP
