Farewell & Thanks

Retirement of Patricia Tonge / Ger Brennan
After 26 years of service, Patricia Tonge will be officially retiring from ESB on Monday 5th October
Her last day in the office will be Monday 4th when she will bid farewell to her friends and colleagues and start the next chapter of her life.
Patricia started her working life in ESB in retail where she worked in sales in Coolock for many years before moving to Production Support in Finglas in 2005 after the shop closures.
She got on with her work quietly and efficiently without any fuss and her pleasant nature made her a valued team member and friend to all she worked with. In recent years her name is well known on parcels coming in and out of the buildings as she looked after PPE and stationery orders.
We know she is looking forward to travelling and spending time with her grandchildren abroad and now she has the freedom to ‘fly away’ whenever suits.
We wish Trish all the very best, good health and happiness in the future and hope the friendships continue from outside ESB.

Retirement of Rita Quinn / Marion Glavin
After more than 40 years of dedicated service our colleague, Rita Quinn, is retiring and will leave us on Thursday 30th September. Rita started her career in Patrick Street, first in the Typing Pool and then Payroll office. In 1985 Rita moved to new offices in Wilton HQ along with the rest of “Monica’s Girls”. The Typing Pool also provided the relief for the Clerical Staff in the local offices, when they were on leave and Rita thoroughly enjoyed working with her colleagues across the county, many of whom have become great friends. Indeed, Rita’s caring personality and loyalty has meant that she has made many good and long-standing friendships with staff both past and present right across ESB. In 1990, Rita moved to the Cash Office in Academy Street and then availed of a temporary career break in 1991 to work with the European Parliament in Luxembourg and in Strasbourg for a year. On her return, Rita worked in Payroll and in HR and then went on to use her exemplary customer service skills in both the National Customer Care Centre and the Scheduling Support Centre. Rita was appointed to the role of New Connections Team Lead in 2015 and her enthusiasm, extensive knowledge and support have been invaluable to her team and to all the staff in New Connections.
Rita has made a noteworthy and positive contribution to every area of the Business that she has worked in and her logical thinking and calming influence will be missed by all of her colleagues particularly those of us in New Connections.
We all wish Rita good health and happiness to enjoy every minute of her retirement with her friends and family, her husband Tony, her daughter Jeanne and son Kieran. While we cannot as yet have the type of farewell party Rita deserves, we plan on marking the occasion with afternoon tea in the Marquee which is situated on the grounds in Wilton. So, if any of you are in the vicinity, please pop in any time from 2:30pm on the 30th.
