Farewell & Thanks

Retirement of John Behan /
After almost 23 years of service in ESB, our friend and colleague John Behan’s last day in the office is today, January 27th. John joined the ESB in 1999 from Cable&Wireless and was initially based out of Head Office working on a number of Telecoms projects. John was involved in the installation of a wide a range of telecoms infrastructure including the fit out of copper/fibre cabling in many of the ESB office locations including the initial Call Centre in North Branch, Finglas. After moving to Telecom Operations East (TOE) John spent many years responding to telecoms faults/issues that staff reported and as such became the face of Networks Telecoms to many people in various locations. Aswell as this, John project managed the Telecom deliverables for many of the office fitout and office move projects in the Greater Dublin area. As a result of this role and his attentive, diligent and courteous manner, John made many good and long standing friendships across ESB. John’s retirement plans include spending more time with his wife Noelene, charity fund raising and walking outdoors…and who knows he might get his FAI coaching badges renewed!
We wish John and his family good health and happiness long into the future. We are hoping to meet up face to face with John in a social setting over the coming weeks and will keep you informed of any arrangements. Regards, Jonny

Note from John Moran, Networks Portlaoise, who retires from ESB today /
Today, Friday 28th January 2022. is the day I retire, having completed 45 years in ESB. I began my career in ESB 1977. My first work location was Newbridge in Co. Kildare. Since then I have worked in all the major ESB locations throughout Ireland delivering training with the NTC and managing Contractors for ESB and Siro. Over the years I have worked with some wonderful people and I would like to thank all my colleagues, past and present for their support, understanding and friendship over the years. I wish to thank the managers I worked with who supported me both professionally and personally along the way and ESB for giving me a career that was motivating and rewarding for such a long time. My career in ESB could not have been sustained without the support of my wife Pauline and children Tara, Paula and Shannan. In the months and weeks leading up to my retirement date I felt it would be easy to say good bye, but it’s not. I have really enjoyed all of my working life in ESB. Now it’s time to begin the next chapter of my life, so I bid you all farewell. It’s been a pleasure.

RIP
