Farewell & Thanks

Mick Hennessy is retiring / Mark Byrne
Mick began his career, far removed from ESB, on the high seas in the Naval Service. Upon leaving the Navy he joined ESB as a Linesman working out of TOD in Inchicore. After the dizzying heights of line construction he moved to Poolbeg Thermal Station as a Dayworker – some people say he thought the chimneys were two large poles and he only arrived there by accident!!!!!! His next move was to undertake the Adult Apprenticeship Program where he qualified as an Electrician before transferring onto the Poolbeg Shift Team. Following the closure of Poolbeg Thermal in 2010, Mick transferred to North Wall operations where he has remained to the present day. Presently he is the “Last Man Standing” from the old guard in NW where his local knowledge, experience (and humour) has been invaluable to both the Asset Development and E&MP teams.
Mick’s Last day will be on the 1st February. Unfortunately, due to the impact of COVID-19 and the current restrictions we will not be having a retirement event in-person. However, have no doubt when the COVID-19 Pandemic passes, we will celebrate Mick’s career properly with his friends and colleagues.
We thank Mick for the years of service and wish him a long, happy and healthy retirement. Staff of North Wall, Poolbeg and the wider ESB family….
