Turlough Hill featured on Building Ireland: RTE 1, 8pm, Thurs 7th May / Jen Lucy
As part of its latest series, Building Ireland visited Turlough Hill earlier in the year to showcase the extraordinary engineering feat and discuss its continuing critical role in Ireland’s electricity infrastructure today.
Presenter Brian McManus interviews ESB Hydro Manager Martin Stronge in the control room, where Martin outlined the complementary role the pumped storage facility plays in an electricity system with ever-more intermittent renewables. A number of other engineering and architectural experts are interviewed, and the programme is expected to focus on how the spectacular project was completed in sympathy with the unspoiled Wicklow Mountains setting.
Make sure to tune in to RTÉ One television at 8pm tonight (Thursday 7th May). It will be available on the RTÉ Player afterwards. https://vimeo.com/414456377!
Bereavements
Thank you from Ailish Brennan, Mullingar / Ailish Brennan
I would like to express my gratitude to all my ESB colleagues retired and current, for their considerate support following the sad and untimely passing of my dearest and only sister, Caroline Maunsell.
While people could not be with us personally during those difficult days, the many messages of sympathy and kindness by text, phone calls, emails, letters, mass cards and condolences on RIP.ie were a great source of comfort and solace to me and my family. I thank you sincerely, and for your continuing support and care.
