Message from Ronnie Horan on his retirement /
I am retiring from ESB tomorrow after 39 years and 9 months. I have enjoyed my time in ESB and met many friends all over the company. It is a very strange feeling to be finishing up in this way. I hope that I can get an opportunity to meet as many of you as possible for a glass or two whenever things settle down. Stay safe! Thanks and Best Wishes, Ronnie

Billy McMullan is retiring today / Ted O’Connell
After 40 years of dedicated service to ESB, Billy McMullan has decided to call time on his career as a Senior Training Officer in NTC and return permanently to his native Cork.
Billy commenced his career in ESB as a Trainee Linesman in Albert rd., Cork with the Harbour group.
During those early years he worked in Dunmanway, Carrigaline and later worked as a Chargehand Linesman in Kinsale.
In 1992, he was asked to report to the then ‘Lineschool’ in Portlaoise to work in a temporary capacity as a Network Demonstrator and continued to do so periodically until 2002 when he transferred permanently to the Training Centre in Portlaoise.
In that year, while working as a Training Officer he played a key role in the development of the first of a series of Network Challenge events which were staged in the NTC over the subsequent five year period.
Over the following four years he successfully completed a Level 8 BA Degree in Training and Education with NUI Galway and graduated in 2007. This qualification proved beneficial throughout the years as he developed, designed and delivered a wide variety of training programmes to ESB Networks and Contractor staff.
Billy was well known and respected by a lot of people, far and wide in ESB Networks and beyond as a highly competent Training Officer who was always good humoured and witty.
His expertise and advise were often called upon by various parts of the business over the years.
He is moving on to the next module in the programme of life to pursue his other interests including sailing, fishing and spending more quality time with his family and friends.
We wish Billy the very best of luck, good health and happiness in his retirement.
Unfortunately, due to current Covid 19 situation, we can’t celebrate Billy’s retirement in the usual NTC fashion, but we will have a get-together to mark the occasion at a later date.
