Farewell & Thanks

Kevin Foley is retiring / Michael Casey
After 45 years’ of dedicated service our colleague Kevin Foley is retiring with his last day being Friday 25th September. Having finished his apprenticeship in 1979 Kevin started out as an electrician in the Ballymahon Area office. Following the closure of the Ballymahon office Kevin moved to Longford area office in the early 1990’s. In the early noughties Kevin joined the Independent auditing team in Networks. Since then Kevin has dedicated his time and his efforts in helping to make ESB a safer place for all to work in. Requests come in from across the company for Kevin’s help and guidance on electrical matters on a weekly basis. Kevin has made lots of friends & valued colleagues across the company. We would like to wish him a long and healthy retirement.

Coffee Morning on World Heart Day in aid of IHF / Oonagh Dalton
The Irish Heart Foundation, proudly supported by ESB Networks, are asking businesses around the country to stand up for heart disease by hosting a virtual coffee morning to help raise awareness and vital funds to support their goal in fighting against heart disease and stroke.
We are calling on all ESB staff to support this initiative by hosting a virtual coffee morning with their team on the day. Not only are you supporting a great cause you would also be connecting with colleagues who may really need that bit of interaction at the moment.
The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that many of us are still working from home. As we adjust to this new way of working, we may find that we are sitting down more than usual. This is because we are no longer popping out for coffee, moving about to go to meetings, or walking / cycling home from the office.
Sitting for prolonged periods of time can increase your risk of heart disease and stroke which is why we are raising awareness by asking you to host a virtual coffee morning with your team. By doing so you and your colleagues are standing up for loved ones, colleagues and friends who have been affected by heart disease, while raising vital funds for the Irish Heart Foundation. So…how to get involved:
1. Nominate a lucky team member to set up the meeting via Skype/MS Teams & block out your team diaries today! 2. Host your coffee morning on the morning of Tuesday 29th of September.
3. Take a screengrab/photo of your virtual coffee morning and show your support by sharing it on Yammer with the #VirtualCoffeeMorning
4. Optional – share on your personal social media with #EscapeYourChair and feel free to tag ESB Networks and The Irish Heart Foundation in your post!
5. We would encourage staff to discuss the topic of the day ‘Heart Health’ and to share tips on how to promote overall good wellbeing. Some ideas to discuss…
