Bereavements

Thanks from Bernadette Jennings /
On behalf of my family and myself I want to thank you all for the messages of condolence and sympathy sent on the death of my mother, Esther. The support we’ve received has been a singular comfort at this strange time. The support of my friends in ESB has been remarkable and i can never express my real appreciation. I will be in touch more formally in the near future but for now, please accept my heartfelt thanks and Stay Safe so we can meet in person soon, Bernadette Jennings

Retirement of John O’Riordan/ Rob Aherne
After more than 40 years of dedicated service, our colleague John O’Riordan has decided to call time on his long career in ESB.
Having started out in the Civil Works department back in March 1979, John has spent most of his career in what we know today as IT Delivery, Enterprise Services, where laterally he has been part of ESB’s SAP Competency Centre and most recently a key member of the Finance functional team on Project LEAP.
A keen GAA follower and loyal Limerick fan, John has made a huge contribution to ESB’s own GAA scene during his time with the company, holding a number of roles within the club.
Although not formally retiring until July, John’s last working day with the company is Wednesday, 27th May.
While we may not able to mark the occasion in person right now, we look forward to meeting up again in the future and on behalf of all your friends and colleagues in ESB, the very best of luck in your retirement John!

Retirement of Willie Brady /
After 38 years of service in ESB, our colleague Willie Brady is retiring on 5th June.
Willie started with ESB in 1982, joining the Telecommunications department in the ESB Head Office, and has spent his career across different teams within the group that is now known as ‘Networks Telecoms’.
Willie moved to Athlone in 1993, where he managed the Telecoms Operations Midlands (TOM) group, and from 2010 onwards managed the Telecoms Renewables deliverables across many large-scale projects.
Those of us who have worked with Willie will appreciate his commitment and dedication to ESB over the years.
Willie has been a colleague and friend to many of us across the organisation and offered his extensive expertise to both support and project work over his career.
For the past twenty years, Willie’s commitment to his colleagues has been reflected in his involvement with Midlands ESB Staff Benevolent Association.
A keen golfer, Willie has been an active member and promoter of the Telecoms and Athlone Golf Societies.
We wish Willie & his family a long and happy retirement.

Due the current circumstances, Willie has had to postpone his retirement celebrations but we look forward to celebrating with Willie at a later date.
