Our SHIELD EHS got an upgrade / Jeff Cathcart

Our SHIELD EHS system was updated on 26th June 2019. This brings SHIELD EHS up to date with product changes over the last 19 months and enable a second system upgrade over the next few weeks.

Good Catch and Near Miss in SHIELD Desktop are being updated to align with more causes of Incidents. The Good Catch App will be updated in tandem over the next few days. SHE Senior Users will have details of SHIELD EHS upgrades for each Organisational Unit.

Bereavement – Margaret Anne Colton (sister of Theresa O’Neill – ESB Networks) /

It is with regret that I inform you of the sudden passing of Margaret Anne Colton (neé Guinan), beloved sister of our friend and colleague Theresa O’Neill (ESB Networks).

May she rest in peace.

Funeral details as follows: Reposing at Suaimhneas on the grounds of Clarinbridge Church this Friday 28th June from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday 29th at 10am in Clarinbridge Church followed by family burial at St. Mary’s, Staghall, Belturbet, Co. Cavan at 6pm on Saturday evening. Family house private.

Retirement of Finbarr Quigley / Lorraine Brennan

After almost 36 years’ service in the ESB, Finbarr Quigley is retiring shortly. Finbarr joined ESB in 1980 having graduated from UCD with Honours in Engineering . He served, initially, as one of the Resident Civil Engineers for the construction of Moneypoint in County Clare, gaining significant experience of Power Plant construction something that was to shape his career . He took leave of absence to spend two years working on Water Supply with Concern in Tanzania which reflects his commitments to working for the good of others. Finbarr’s career as a Senior Engineer in ESB International saw him apply his knowledge and experience to a wide range of projects , in particular, power plant projects including but not limited to Kudu in Namibia, Marchwood, Tawnahmore Peaking Plant and Carrington. He also delivered on site technical support to a number of OCGT projects in South Africa. His involvement in onshore Wind Projects saw him take up the position as Manager Renewables Development Group in the Civil and Environmental Department. He has presented papers on a range of subjects including Moneypoint Chimneys and Small Hydro. During his long and successful career he has contributed greatly to the design , development and construction of a very significant range of projects particularly in the thermal generation and wind generation sectors for both ESB and International clients.

Finbarr would like to invite his current and former colleagues and friends to join him on 28th June upstairs in Doheny and Nesbitts on Baggot Street, Dublin 2, from 5.30pm onwards to mark the occasion.

Retirement of Marie Brauders /

After nearly 40 years of dedicated service to ESB, Marie Brauders has decided to retire, and set off into the sunset to start the next chapter of her new life.

Marie, worked in both Waterford and Dublin, Marie started work in Waterford but moved to the bright lights of Dublin where she worked in CAS ( Meter Billing). After a few years in Dublin, Marie moved back to Waterford where she worked in many areas within ESB. Marie is well known throughout ESB and especially as the expert on CPC’S. Wednesday 26th was Marie’s last day and we wish Marie a long and happy retirement.

Retirement of Pat Carroll, ESB Networks, Roscrea / brenda madden

Pat Carroll is retiring after 40 years of service from ESB Networks, Roscrea, a career that started out in Moneypoint back in 1979 and ended up in his native Roscrea. Along the way Pat has made many friendships, and his helpful and kind manner has ensured that he is held in high regard by all those that he met. His many friends and colleagues will miss Pat’s good humour, endless patience, and his vast knowledge and expertise of the Roscrea Area was an invaluable asset which will be sorely missed.

However, retirement calls and we wish Pat, his wife Marie and family every happiness, good health and good wishes now and into the future.
