Bereavements

Thank you / Kieran O’Neill
On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to thank my friends and colleagues throughout ESB for your support and kindness following the recent passing of my Mother. Sincere thanks for your kind words of sympathy, cards, calls, texts and emails. Thanks also to those who attended the funeral service. Your thoughtfulness and consideration has been a great comfort to us all at this difficult time and will not be forgotten.

People Leaving

Farewell & Thanks / Sean Nevin
After 38 years of service, I will be closing the office door behind me in Networks Training Centre, Portlaoise on Friday next, February 22 and taking leave from then to bring me to my formal retirement date.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those friends and colleagues I have had the privilege to work with over those years and to wish you well for the future.
I have very fond memories of starting my ESB life in 1981 as a Control Room Operator in Shannonbridge Generating Station (now West Offaly Power), and my involvement in union affairs representing local Shift Staff and also representing Shift Staff nationally during the major negotiations that took place during the 1990’s. I was also honoured in having had the opportunity of representing ESB UNITE members in a temporary full time capacity for a period during that time and I remain impressed by the commitment and dedication shown by union representatives during often very difficult negotiations.
I have spent the past fifteen very enjoyable years in Networks where I began as an Apprentice Coordinator in Human Resources. I have also worked on a variety of projects in Networks HR over that period including the voluntary severance schemes, the inception of the competency framework, the electrical engineering programme in DIT and the City & Guilds programme for Network Technicians. For the past six years I have worked as External Training and Services manager in Networks Training Centre, Portlaoise and I would like to sincerely thank NTC staff for their very warm and welcoming attitude and for the great fun we have had together, in addition to doing some work. Best wishes to all for a happy and healthy future.
