To my colleagues and friends in Electric Ireland and beyond, as you may know, I retired from ESB/Electric Ireland in January, and I will always look back on my time there with great fondness.
I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to everyone for their good wishes on my retirement and to those of you who gave me such a good send off on 25th January. Sincerely, I really enjoyed the night, and it will live long in my memory for all the right reasons. Thank you to the planners (schemers) who worked so hard to make it all happen – I just wanted to acknowledge your efforts on my behalf it was so very thoughtful of you all. I was overwhelmed by your kind words and humbled by your generosity. To those I did not get to speak with before I left, I’ll hopefully catch up with you in the future.
I have been fortunate to work with great people during my career in Electric Ireland and elsewhere in ESB. Thank you for all the camaraderie, the support, and the happy times.
It has been an exciting time to be in the industry and I look forward to watching ESB lead the charge in the face of new challenges.
I wish you all good luck and hope that we keep in touch throughout the years ahead. Kind regards and best wishes for the future.

After more than 44years & 7mths of dedicated service, William Hearne (Billy), Group Sourcing, Waterford is finally hanging up his ESB swipe card Friday 9th February 2024. Billy has been an integral part of the Shared Services area & the Group Sourcing function over those 44 years & has made an irreplaceable contribution & lasting impression on anyone who has had the pleasure of dealing with him. His great sense of humour & sensible no bother approach will be greatly missed. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Billy & his family the very best of health & happiness for a long & happy retirement. From all in Group Sourcing & ES Procurement
