Farewell & Thanks

Colm Bolger is retiring / Marie Connolly
After 38 years of dedicated service Colm has decided to retire from ESB on Friday 9th October. Colm Joined ESB in 1982 and held many roles within the Facilities area. Starting his career as a young electrician Colm moved on to the role of Team Leader in Craft and General, Contracts Manager and Soft Services to name but a few, before taking up his final role as Security Manager for the last 10 years. As Security Manager, Colm has been responsible for overseeing the Security Design Infrastructure for ESB premises, as well as managing Security teams and the Control Centre, within Head Office complex. Colm’s knowledge and expertise were key in developing Security solutions across ESB but more significantly in recent projects of the upgrade of Coolkeeragh and the development of the new Head office Building, ensuring a safe and secure environment for staff and all users of premises. In addition to looking after the physical security of Buildings, Colm has also played a central role in Emergency Planning and Procedures, within the Head Office complex. Colm executed his roles with professionalism and over the years built strong working relationships with ESB Business Units and external partners alike, making many friends along the way. His focus on Customer needs and his friendly approach has earned him the respect of all who has encountered or worked with him. It is not surprising Colm found his way to Security as he demonstrated his skill by fiercely defending goal in ESB soccer games for the Facilities and Property Group on many an occasion, over the years. Having hung up his soccer boots he now enjoys the game as a spectator and keen follower of Manchester United affording him more time to dedicate himself to his other passion, Golf. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Colm for all his support and for his many years of dedicated service to ESB.
Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances we can’t get together to give Colm the send-off he deserves. However, I am sure you will join me in wishing Colm and his wife Carol a very long and happy retirement. Best Wishes, Marie & all in the Facilities team.
