Farewell & Thanks

Ger Tarmey is retiring / Mat Cunningham
Our friend and colleague, Ger Tarmey retires from ESB on Friday 22nd July after 43 years of dedicated service. Ger joined ESB as an apprentice electrician based in Galway in 1978. On completion of his apprenticeship, Ger joined Projects Department and worked on the refurbishment of North Wall Power station and subsequently on the construction of Moneypoint Power station in the early 1980’s. Following the completion of the third unit in Moneypoint in 1986, Ger moved back to his home county to work in Area Operations. After a number of years there including On-Call NT, Ger took up the role of CSS in 2008.
It was to be in this role over the next 14 years that his true style and skills shone through. It being one of the more diverse CSS roles in the country, having it all from the demands of an ever growing city and its suburbs to the demands of the islands off the coast of Galway and the rural Conemara network.
Ger carried out his role in his own cool, calm and collected way and was always one to give clear advice to many. He will be missed around the place. We would all like to wish Ger all the best and hope he has a long and happy retirement with his wife Mary and his family where his expansive DIY and renovation skills are already in big demand. Ger will be marking his occasion later in the summer with all his colleagues.

RIP
