Farewell & Thanks

Retirement of John Henson / Paul Freeman
Our friend and colleague John Henson has had decided to call time on his ESB Career and move to the next chapter in his life. John will retire on the 24th December.
John started his career in the ESB as an Apprentice in 1972 and eventually ended up in Stations Athlone in 1980 under the supervision of Phil Henry. He has an excellent technical knowledge of all stations and will be a big lost to the section.
We would like to thank John for his excellent work and commitment over the years and wish him health and happiness on his retirement, it’s well deserved and I’m sure many people will agree that he will be sorely missed.
Due the Covid-19 restrictions we will have to meet up with John later next year and have a proper send off. John best of luck in your retirement , you can now spend time with your Family and friends and enjoy the future.

John Healy is retiring / Tom McMahon Our friend and colleague, John Healy has decided to call it day at the end of December and retire after 40 years of dedicated service to ESB. John joined ESB from Dublin Corporation back in 1979 and his first post was that of Executive Officer in Dublin North West District. From there his career took off as he became the resident expert in such areas of IT, Risk, Governance, Insurance and for the last five years in Company Secretariat. John joined POD this year where he finalised his Coaching qualification with great results!
John has many happy memories of his time in ESB but particularly of all the great ESB people he has met and worked with during those years. Many of you will be aware that John is a national champion runner winning many races and medals over the years (and still runs at speeds of competitors a quarter of his age!!) and if that wasn’t enough, he can be found early in the morning or at lunchtime going for a swim at Seapoint or the Forty Foot! Even in this weather!!! We are having a virtual retirement event for John tomorrow Wed 16th December at 3pm so grab a coffee and log in. If you haven’t already requested the details and you would like to join this event please contact Maria Travers or Tom McMahon and we will send you an invite!
