ESB Cricket- if we kept records, we’d be breaking them / Damian Pacitto
On a warm, humid and windy Tuesday evening ESB played Civil Service in the Willie Webster trophy. Fielding first, ESB started well with Vineeth Pilli taking three quick wickets. From there Civil Service rebuilt strongly, and it took a couple of late wickets to restrict Civil Service to 145, a very challenging total. On an ideal batting pitch Navneet Sengar and Vikas Bhagaur combined for a punishing 120 run partnership to see us through in less than 16 overs. Vikas scored 76 and Navneet 44 not out in a terrific display of batting, including a highly memorable and game changing over of 32 runs. Records set (probably):
– Vikas’ score of 76- highest for ESB
– Navneet carried his bat (batted throughout the innings) for 44 – 32 runs of a single over (including wides and no-balls) – Run rate just over 9
– Nearly 300 run scored in the match
So two wins from two, ESB looking good for a final’s position. Next game is against the Air Corps mid July.
