Make-A-Wish – Dublin2Donegal #4Séimí – 7 Half Marathons in 7 Days / Barry Brennan Our story:
Our Make-A-Wish Ireland story began with the 2016 Dublin City Marathon and an initial €5,000 being raised. Three years and Nine marathons between us later we have raised over €30,000 to help Make a Wish Ireland grant wishes in Séimí Brennan’s name.
2019 has marked a year of rest which allows us to prepare for our biggest challenge to date. Dublin2Donegal #4Séimí – 7 Half Marathons in 7 Days Challenge
On Easter Sunday 12th of April 2020 Barry, Dave, Eamon and Eoin will begin the challenge to run 7 Half Marathons. Kicking off in Dublin City centre on April 12th and finishing in Donegal Town 7 days and 8 counties later!
The 12th of April maybe months away, but the journey starts now. We will soon begin our training and preparation which will ensure that each of us will run a half marathon plus on all of the 7 days. All the money raised will result in wishes granted in the name of our Super Hero Séimí Brennan. Séimí’s story:
Séimí was diagnosed with a brain tumor just a few weeks after he was born. Séimí battled bravely through surgeries, chemo and all his treatment. He charmed everyone who was lucky enough to meet with his cheeky smile.
Make-A-Wish Ireland organised for Séimí, his Mammy Orna, Daddy Dave and little sister Nia to go away on holidays sadly just before they were due to leave Séimí became too unwell to travel. On the 3rd of September 2017 Séimí aged 3 years, shed his demons and grew his angel wings. He is now at rest.
All monies raised by our challenge will be donated to Make-A-Wish Ireland in the name Séimí Brennan and all wishes granted with this will be in little Séimí’s name. Séimí’s Make-A-Wish Party – in association with Dom’s Pier 1, Donegal Town
On Saturday April 18th Dom’s Pier 1 http://www.domspier1.com/ will host a celebration for Séimí and to mark the end of the Donegal2Dublin challenge where there will be live music, finger food and a fantastic raffle with great prizes. We would like to invite all our friends and family to join us on this special night and celebrate.
We are going to blog our journey from the training right through to the finish line and we plan to create an online documentary including some of the special Wish Children we will meet along the way.
