Darkness Into Light – Sunrise Appeal /
Next Saturday, 9th May, a Darkness Into Light ‘Sunrise’ appeal is taking place. This special appeal, launched by Electric Ireland in partnership with Pieta, encourages people to donate what they can to Pieta and to come together while remaining apart by getting up at 5:30am to watch the sunrise and to show community and solidarity with those impacted by suicide and to spread the message and offer hope by sharing their sunrise moment using the #DIL2020
With Pieta being a cause that is close to so many of our hearts, it would be great to see high levels of staff involvement leading up to May 9th and on the day itself. Last year we received a lot of beautiful images and videos from staff all over Ireland making their journey from Darkness Into Light. If you are taking part in the ‘Sunrise’ appeal next week we would love to see your messages of hope and your images from the day on Yammer. Please let us know where the photo or video is taken and who is in it.
Please share your messages and images of hope on Yammer between now and May 9th and if you are posting on social media please don’t forget to tag us @electricireland and use the hashtag #DIL2020
Please send us your images and videos by email to mailto:sponsorship@electricireland.ie and allow us to share hope with those who need it most.
*Note: By sending us content, this is agreeing to allow for your image/video to be used on Electric Ireland social channels and for internal communications. If you do not want to provide this permission, please advise us in the body of the email. Donate at http://www.darknessintolight.ie

I would like to thank all my ESB colleagues for their support following the recent sad passing of my dear father Ken. While people could not be there personally during those difficult days, the emails, texts and calls provided us with great comfort and solace.
I will hopefully see you all soon to thank you in person but in the meantime, I hope you and your families stay safe and well at this time. Mick

People Leaving

Retirement of Michael Bourke, Networks Legal/ Annelie Walsh
After four years (not 40 years!!) Michael Bourke in Networks Legal is retiring on Thursday 30 April.
During his time in ESB Michael has advised on a wide range of legal issues and been involved in some very high profile cases. Prior to joining ESB Michael held a number of senior positions in Ireland and abroad and he has generously shared his knowledge and experience with his colleagues in ESB. Michael has made an enormous contribution to the Legal function and despite his relatively short tenure in ESB has developed strong relationships across the business.
Michael will be missed by his friends and colleagues not just for his legal expertise but for his good humour and his spontaneous singing on occasion!
We wish Michael all the best as he starts this chapter of his life which will no doubt involve new and exciting challenges.
