Farewell & Thanks

Emer McGowan is retiring / Kara Keenaghan
After forty two years’ of dedicated Service to ESB Emer Mc Gowan has decided to retire. Her last working day will be Friday the 17th July.
Emer started in ESB as a demonstrator in Marketing Department where having trained as a home economics teacher was put to great effect promoting new products in showrooms & at Trade Shows. She then switched Careers paths to become an Energy Services Officer where she encouraged Small to Medium Enterprise customers to manage their load efficiently. She also visited schools to encourage the next generation to be aware of energy efficiency & electrical safety. During storm damage Emer was the ESB’S voice on local radio giving regular updates on restoration time. Emer moved into HR where she worked on policy documents such as term time leave. Emer has spent the last 18 years working as an Apprentice Supervisor.
Emer will be greatly missed by her friends, work colleagues and especially all the apprentices past and present that she has taken such great care of.
It is no surprise to anyone that knows Emer that she is looking forward to travelling and spending more time with Michael and the family. Although her trip to South America has had to be deferred for the moment we have no doubt that she will be taking to the skies as soon as possible.
Not one to be deprived of a party Emer will have a function Post Covid 19 to mark her retirement.
We would like to extend our sincere best wishes to Emer on her retirement from ESB. We wish her all the best on her and happy travels.
