Gerry Winters is retiring / Sean Scannell
After nearly 44 years’ service in ESB our friend and colleague Gerry Winters is retiring. Thursday 18th June marks Gerry’s last working day with ESB Networks.
Gerry joined ESB as an apprentice in 1976. After qualifying as an electrician, Gerry worked as an area electrician in both the Castlebar and Galway areas. Gerry then spent 12 years as an EO in Galway before joining ESB Contracts as a contracts supervisor in 1998. Gerry’s in depth knowledge of the public lighting network was unrivalled during this time and proved invaluable to the successful running of ESB Contracts. Gerry returned to ESB Networks in 2013 in the role of public lighting co-ordinator.
Throughout his career Gerry has made a significant contribution to ESB. Those of us who have worked with Gerry will appreciate his commitment and dedication to ESB over the years. His good humour will be sorely missed around the Galway office and among his work colleague’s in Customer Delivery.
We wish Gerry, his wife Ann and family the very best of luck, good health and happiness in his retirement.
Unfortunately, due to current Covid 19 situation, we can’t celebrate Gerry’s retirement in the usual fashion, but there will have a get together to mark the occasion at a later date.
