Update on ElectricAid’s Cyclone Idai Emergency Appeal / ElectricAid
It has been only 6 weeks since the Cyclone Idai struck the countries of Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. The Cyclone left millions of people in need of humanitarian assistance. But with ElectricAid’s immediate response, it abled our partners (GOAL, Concern Worldwide, Oxfam, and CBM) to be on ground and ensure that the vulnerable communities have the essential basics like food and shelter while they try to assess the damage and rebuild their lives.
We would like to express a big thanks to our ElectricAid members, staff and pensioner alike, for their support and generosity over the past 6 weeks. ElectricAid have accumulated €29,660 which will be used for longer-term relief and rehabilitation efforts to restore the livelihoods of people in affected areas.

Retirement of Gene Coyle, HV Stations, Navan. / Brian Gartland
After 43 years’ service in ESB, Gene Coyle is retiring. Gene started off his career as an On-Call Electrician in Kells. When the Kells Depot closed, Gene changed his base to Navan and from there, worked on NRP for a number of years. He then moved into HV Stations, where he has spent the last 15 years of his career. Gene has gained the admiration and respect of his colleagues over the years. His depth of knowledge and his easy manner will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have encountered Gene over the years. We wish Gene a long, happy and healthy retirement.
Gene’s retirement function will be held in the Newgrange Hotel, Navan on Friday 31st May at 8pm. We hope to see you there.
If you wish to contribute to Gene’s collection, please contact Malcolm McDonnell (087-2197093), Frank Tunney (087-4198062) or any HV Stations staff member.
