Farewell & Thanks
Retirement of Pat Byrne, Networks Procurement /
After more than 42 years’ dedicated service to ESB, our colleague and friend Pat Byrne finished up last Friday 21st August and is off on a well-deserved break – he’ll be officially retired on 28 August 2020.
Those who have had the pleasure of working with Pat know that his contribution to ESB, more specifically and latterly his role over many years in ESB Procurement, is quite simply immeasurable. His Procurement expertise, enhanced by his considerable IT capability, customs, tax, assets and finance knowledge, made him the go-to Guru for all things Procurement. Equally affable and engaging with all staff regardless of their position within the Organisation, his guidance, advice and helpful pleasant manner will be greatly missed by all those he encountered, in particular by his colleagues and friends who worked alongside him in Networks Procurement.
True to form – Pat requested a low key departure given the Covid restrictions so a small group of his close colleagues and friends held a little send off with him over MS Teams on Friday last to wish him all the best. When all this Covid malarkey (as PB would say) is under control to a level that allows us all safely meet up again, full retirement celebrations will be arranged with Pat. Pat – we all wish you a long and happy retirement.
